NEC Birmingham
It’s fair to say NEC Birmingham has seen a wealth of changes and standout events since it opened in 1976. 2022 was its most memorable year on record, hosting an incredible 168 events, which was headlined by the Birmingham 2022 Commonwealth Games (CWG), welcoming more than 1.8million visitors through its doors.
This historic moment for the city of Birmingham saw the NEC as a Host Venue, welcoming 440,000 attendees across seven sports on its campus, training 6,000 staff to provide stewarding and security across the course of the games.
The NEC also broke new ground for the industry with the three-day, 45,000 capacity Wireless Festival, proving the highly successful US model of music events on hard standing can work brilliantly here.
The venue has put a focus on innovating at every turn, while keeping the customer experience at the centre of its work. We believe this is helping us redefine what it means to be not just the UK’s number one venue, but a global leader.
