ASCEND GLOBAL MEDIA – WOMEN IN TECH WORLD SERIES
The Women in Tech World Series is the world’s largest conference series for women in the tech sector. It came about because we wanted to change the status quo. We saw that there was a lack of diversity in business and that we could do something to change it. We set out to create something that went beyond standalone events and would improve diversity and inclusion in tech in a meaningful way.
BOROUGH BENCH MEDIA – OPEN BANKING EXPO
Open Banking Expo became the largest UK Open Banking conference in its launch year, 2018. As we approached 2019 we set high targets for its return, but noted the rest of the world were watching the UK’s progress.
Europe was to rollout Open Banking by September 2019, and Canada’s government had recently launched a study into Open Banking’s merits. We knew we needed to create a global community of Open Banking professionals, not just face-to-face at events, but 365 days a year too.
The first step was to launch a news site in January 2019, which helped grow an organic audience in all three regions that we had, or were to launch, a foothold in. We partnered with various trade / membership bodies, media partners, and government, as well as assembling an advisory board to ensure we attracted expert speakers and original content.
As a result we smashed all targets set at the beginning of 2019 across all three events and are now established as the world’s largest Open Banking community.

ROYAL COLLEGE OF GENERAL PRACTITIONERS – ONE DAY ESSENTIALS
Launched in 2011, ‘One Day Essentials’ (ODE) set out to provide a series of one-day conferences offering expert specialist clinical training and essential information. We wanted GPs and primary healthcare professionals to benefit from programmes developed by and featuring leading experts, focused on necessary and relevant updates to general practice, practical tips and take-home messages that would help them improve their day-to-day practice and therefore patient outcomes.
In late 2018 we developed a more structured and strategic approach to a wider digital marketing campaign, including targeted paid social campaigns on social media (Facebook, LinkedIn), Google ads, and Google paid search.
Our target for 2019 was to increase ODE delegate attendance by 5%; this exceeded our expectations with 17.5%. This was due to our revised and expanded marketing strategy as well as ensuring that ODE content was relevant and of the highest quality.
We strive for our delegates to feel personally assisted and valued from the point of registration to the day of the ODE and beyond. We show delegates that we place a unified value on the environmental sustainability and green-friendly running of our ODEs.
