Euromoney Conferences – Euromoney Saudi Series
The Euromoney Saudi Series was the first digital series Euromoney has ever run. In a time of pandemic and travel restrictions, we could not hold our 14th annual Saudi Arabia Conference in Riyadh – so together with the Saudi Arabian Ministry of Finance we went online. Over three months from September 2020 we aired an exclusive set of interviews, roundtables, and panel discussions focused on the economic performance and future strategy of Saudi Arabia. The series concluded with an extensive research report, which provided context and a benchmark, and was circulated to our database of wholesale financiers.
Over 4,500 people from 74 countries registered for the series, including sovereign and private capital investors with over $1.5trn assets under management. Over 70,000 people watched the Minister of Finance’s livestream which was broadcast on regional media channels. VIPs who agreed to participate included the Minister of Finance, the Governor of the Central Bank and the Chairman of the Capital Markets Authority. We provided our partners in Saudi Arabia with a platform to continue their communication with our global audience. And we gave our audience the best picture of the current financial and economic story of Saudi Arabia. It was accessible, entertaining and informative.
Infopro Digital – Asia Risk series
Asia Risk is the leading trade publication specialising in financial regulations, the developments of derivatives markets, and risk management for APAC-based financial institutions. Along with the trade publications, Asia Risk, a subsidiary of Risk.net, organises risk management conferences for the APAC region including:
- Asia Risk Congress (Flagship event, now in its 18th year)
- Risk Australia (now in its 17th year)
- Risk Japan (now in its 15th year)
- Risk Asean (now in its 11th year)
- Risk Hong Kong (now in its 4th year)
Each conference addresses the unique challenges and opportunities of differing local markets and industries, with our flagship event, Asia Risk Congress, taking place at the end of the year to bring the wider risk management community together and to look ahead to future industry challenges tying in the overall picture for the APAC region.
Prior to the global pandemic, the conference series was well attended by delegates, speakers and sponsors who flew to the conferences to learn, network, and do business. However, as a results of the pandemic, it offered us the opportunity to innovate the conference series and produce larger scale virtual conferences, leading to an increase in attendance, diversity of speakers and financial success of all events.
Informa Connect – SuperReturn
Pre-pandemic in 2019 the SuperReturn series included 16 events, some with differing focuses and some in different geographies. The flagship event is SuperReturn International and is the largest and most prestigious private equity and venture capital event in the world. From 2016 up until 2020 SuperReturn International has delivered a CAGR of 20% in revenues.
The SuperReturn team did an amazing job in 2021 to reach new audiences and serve returning customers. The number of events increased to 19 including a North American Energy edition. Many events at the start of the year were understandably run virtually with the plan to run hybrid editions later in the year when economies were opening again.
The last quarter of 2021 was frenetic as we ran 13 events in 13 weeks – a mixture of F2F and digital, across multiple time zones, and on different continents. These events generated tens of millions of revenue with a GP margin of 74%
SuperReturn International – the series flagship: Although 2021 revenue was 22% down on 2020 it was only 4% down on 2019. The 2022 event is in June and we are tracking to be 10% over the high watermark in revenue set in 2019. Overall satisfaction was comparable with 2020 and 2019. The NPS was our highest ever at 24 and encouragingly the ‘importance to attend’ was our highest score to date – a key measure that this show and its related products and experiences are not discretionary.
Royal College of General Practitioners – Clinical Hot Topics | Issues Affecting Ethnic Minority Patients – Part 1 and Part 2
In November 2021, the Royal College of General Practitioners delivered two one-day online conference for its members, entitled ‘Clinical Hot Topics | Issues Affecting Ethnic Minority Patients’.
The RCGP had already scheduled a number of non-clinical events to coincide with Black History Month and South Asian Heritage Month. Given the importance and topicality of clinical issues affecting ethnic minority groups, it was decided to develop two clinical conferences for RCGP members addressing these topics, thereby complementing the non-clinical activities.
The conferences represented a cross-College collaboration, utilising the clinical expertise and experience of members across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland. Delegate feedback told us that across the two conferences 95% of attendees were either ‘extremely’ or ‘very’ satisfied with the events, and 98.5% of delegates would attend another RCGP CPD conference in the future.
Such was the success of the two conferences, there are plans to make this short series an annual fixture In the RCGP’s portfolio of clinical CPD events. Educational conferences such as these allow the RCGP to provide its members with valuable clinical updates in important areas to help them improve their practice and ultimately improve patient outcomes.
With Intelligence – HFM European Operational Leaders Club
The HFM European Operational Leaders’ Summit has, over the past 12 years, become the key annual fixture for senior operational executives from the largest and most innovative hedge funds in Europe.
The pivot to virtual in 2020 provided us with the opportunity to experiment with new, innovative formats and whilst everyone was eager to get back to in-person events it was clear that an appetite remained for the year-round touchpoints that virtual had enabled, so an external consultant conducted extensive research to validate the idea of an annual series.
In response to a positive response, HFM launched the Operational Leaders Club, an annual events programme centred around our flagship Summit, providing regular touchpoints throughout the year for sponsors and delegates.
A dedicated Club Manager was recruited to offer a personalised experience for all members and to ensure that their interests were represented in all decisions around Club content. As well as Club Events, the Club Manager used knowledge gained to develop a custom calendar of events from the rest of the With Intelligence portfolio (over 150 events).
Using various platforms and offering smaller bespoke events alongside the main flagship Summit, we have enabled efficient, cost-effective solutions that help our sponsors meet their marketing and business development objectives.
