C21Media – Content London
You know you’re doing something right when an award-winning conference venue cites you as “the best event we’ve worked on in recent years”.
Kings Place’s business development director was quoted in January saying: “[Content London 2017] embraced all that the venue had to offer and their event impacted every department within the venue… The whole venue was transformed with branding, production and furniture. It was an absolute joy to work with such open-minded and creative clients”.
Content London has grown from a 200-person gathering to a market-leading £1m+ conference and networking event for the entertainment industry. Attracting more than 1,500 key players from the global content business and increasing revenue by 823% in the five years since launch.
Its success demonstrates how to extend a market-leading publishing brand into a market-leading conference business, exploiting the converged offering to deliver an ‘unfair advantage’ that standalone events struggle to compete with.
Content London 2017 was a hit, selling out six weeks before the event and showing year-on-year growth of 135% in delegate revenue and 43% in sponsorship revenue, going 18% over target.
It transformed parent company C21Media’s business, showing how conferences can be integrated into publishing businesses with dramatic effect.
Energy Live News – Energy Live Expo
Energy Live Expo (http://www.energylivenews.com/eln_event/expo/) was established by Energy Live News (ELN) in November 2012. It has now become the go-to-event for both end users and suppliers in the energy world. With more than 650 delegates and accounting for 25% of our turnover. It is a huge event. But when it started it nearly bankrupted the company, to say it has been a roller coaster is an understatement.
Success for Energy Live Expo is very easy to quantify. From 2012 to 2017 we have had the following growth:
– Delegates from 420 to 650
– Delegates’ energy spend at the event from £1bn to more than £3bn
– Revenue increase of 277%
– Major partners from one to four
– Six content sessions to 30
– One content area to seven
We just wanted to put on a show that highlighted energy and would be the number one conference for energy end users. Energy Live Expo has become that show.
Don’t take our word for it, here are what the delegates say http://www.energylivenews.com/2017/11/03/energy-live-expo-delegates-say-it-was-a-hit/.
And if you want a flavour of what we do, here are the highlights http://www.energylivenews.com/2017/11/14/inaugural-energy-live-expo-tops-all-expectations/.
Evenco International – Evenco International Fund Forum – Madrid
The Evenco International Fund Forum on the 1st June at the Westin Palace, Madrid. A gathering of influential fund selectors and international fund managers to discuss the latest in investment thinking across all asset classes. A meeting for the most talented in portfolio construction and asset allocation – an event that engages with its audience to align the interests of its attendees with those of its sponsors.
Festival of Media – Festival of Media LatAm 2017
In 2016, the nightmare situation for any event organiser became a reality when we had to cancel the Festival of Media LatAm at very short notice due to the path of Hurricane Mathew and the fact that the weather system was on course to hit Miami directly. In the interest of safety for everyone involved, we made the hard decision not to proceed with the event.
So in 2017, we knew we had a tough task ahead of us in winning back our attendees and sponsors. How do you bounce back from a natural disaster? This is the story of how we created something totally unique for our stakeholders and completely revolutionised the format of the event to make it more experiential, engaging, educational and inspirational to our delegates.
Global Business Club (GBC) – Downstream Caspian and Central Asia 2017
Our flagship Downstream Caspian & Central Asia conference is the region’s number one event of such scale and geographical coverage with the high-level strategic agenda that includes all aspects of refining and petrochemical industry and provides in-depth analysis of market dynamics, overview of major mega-projects and latest technologies in Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Turkmenistan, Uzbekistan, Tajikistan, and Kyrgyzstan.
The conference originated as a simple but powerful idea: connect a remarkably hospitable and yet somewhat secretive region together in one place. Every year we spend months of intense hard work in preparation, many late nights and sometimes a roller coaster of emotions – all to make sure that our attendees get business – and sometimes even life-changing experience at this conference.
Legal Geek Conference
The Legal Geek Conference is the largest LawTech Startup Conference in the world with over 1000 attendees in 2017. The latest Legal Geek Conference trended on Twitter with over 11 million impressions from over 20 countries. The team that produces this event is only two full-time staff and one part-time member of staff who had no event experience before starting a meetup group only three years ago.
To promote the 2017 Conference Legal Geek bought Betty, a 1972 VW Camper Van and drove around Europe hosting events in 5 countries issuing travel grants for the best 20 startups we met to come to the London event.
Onswitch – Cx Congress
The annual Cx Congress is unique in meeting the training and development needs of customer experience professionals working in the veterinary sector. There is no other conference like it, anywhere in the world.
Four streams of content across the day provide delegates with access to leading experts and practical skills that help customer care professionals make long-lasting improvements back in the workplace.
Without corporate sponsors, the programme chosen and messages delivered each year can be unbiased, created to best meet the needs of attendees. Ticket prices offer great value, and the attention to detail given to logistics and practicalities on the day ensures that delegates have an enjoyable, educational and fun day learning new skills and making valuable contacts.
Attendee feedback is consistently strong and delegates’ suggestions for speakers or content are actively followed up. In just four years Cx Congress has become a unique, innovative and important feature in the veterinary calendar, as the home of customer experience learning and development.
Sense Media – AutoSens>
AutoSens was the first event organised by Sense Media Group Having previously worked on events in digital imaging, MD Robert Stead saw an opportunity in the high growth, dynamic sector of autonomous vehicle technology.
Supported by a technical advisory board, Rob created AutoSens upon recognising that the event’s target audience needed a meeting place for academic and industrial technologists working on vehicle perception technologies, to address technical challenges that go beyond commercial sales.
AutoSens first ran in Brussels in September 2016, launching in Detroit in May 2017 and returning to Brussels in September 2017 The objective from the outset was to reach 450-500 attendees in 3-4 years In the second edition at AutoSens in Brussels, we had just over 450 delegates representing 200 companies from 27 countries, with no delegate telesales at any time. After incorporating the business 18 months before the first event, with a starting capital of £12,000, by 2018 the company has grown to 8 employees (with no departures) Sense Media had two offers to acquire the business after the first year’s event. We focus on what makes ours the best conference by a small company, and the most influential event in this sector in the world.
