Best Conference Series

November 26, 2019 by

ALM – Private Client Global Series by Legal Week

The Private Client Global Series by Legal Week has its roots in the long-running, hugely successful International Private Client Forum, an annual gathering of international private client lawyers, now in its 16th year. The International Private Client Forum, along with the other flagship conference, Trust & Estates Litigation Forum, serve private client planners and litigators respectively, and are unique in the sector in that delegate applications are only accepted from law firms. Any non-law firm delegates wishing to attend (accountancies, consultants) are required to attend in a sponsorship capacity.

These two events in Europe are supplemented by the Private Client Forum Americas (Mexico) and the Private Client Forum Asia (Singapore), extending the global reach of the series to The Americas and Asia. Both of these events are open to delegates that have client interests in, or are based in, the respective regions.

The Private Client Global Series includes:

– Private Client Global Elite Dinner, United Kingdom
– International Private Client Forum, Italy
– Private Client Forum Asia, Singapore
– Private Client Forum Americas, Mexico
– Trust & Estates Litigation Forum, France

A Membership Community for CEOs and their leadership teams, Criticaleye inspires leaders to succeed via the content of our Retreats around an in-depth understanding of the challenges organisations and leadership teams are facing. Partners and speakers were selected on the basis of their contribution and value to delegates, and attendees were all leaders and academics from leading businesses and institutions.

Based on the level of attendees and highly confidential subject matter discussed, the outcomes of Criticaleye’s Retreats are likely to play a crucial role in shaping business strategy for organisations and their leaders.

Infopro Digital – OpRisk North America & OpRisk Europe

Infopro Digital’s conference series, OpRisk North America and OpRisk Europe, continues to grow consistently year on year both in terms of content, attendees, revenue and profit. To create and maintain a portfolio of events for this niche industry, which at the same time is commercially very successful and growing year on year, shows real dedication and commitment from the team to deliver valuable, unique and insightful events each time.

Since 2012 the revenue of the portfolio has increased six fold, not only through the addition of new geo-clones to the event but also through more extensive marketing and impressive growth on each individual edition.

C21Media – Content London

You know you’re doing something right when an award-winning conference venue cites you as “the best event we’ve worked on in recent years”.

Kings Place’s business development director was quoted in January saying: “[Content London 2017] embraced all that the venue had to offer and their event impacted every department within the venue… The whole venue was transformed with branding, production and furniture. It was an absolute joy to work with such open-minded and creative clients”.

Content London has grown from a 200-person gathering to a market-leading £1m+ conference and networking event for the entertainment industry. Attracting more than 1,500 key players from the global content business and increasing revenue by 823% in the five years since launch.

Its success demonstrates how to extend a market-leading publishing brand into a market-leading conference business, exploiting the converged offering to deliver an ‘unfair advantage’ that standalone events struggle to compete with.

Content London 2017 was a hit, selling out six weeks before the event and showing year-on-year growth of 135% in delegate revenue and 43% in sponsorship revenue, going 18% over target.

The event took place on January 15th 2018 at ADNEC in Abu Dhabi with over 4,000 delegates attending including the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Chairman of Masdar. Taking inspiration from the ’Butterfly Effect’ theory, we developed a core theme that illustrated how the smallest actions, when taken together, can have a massive impact. We created a memorable event for all who attended, from the pre-show awareness campaign to the opening ceremony’s grand finale, the state-of-art kinetic lighting, impact movies, motion graphics branding elements through to the live performances. All successfully managed and produced by ClinkClink and TMH from initial concept planning through to on site event delivery and production.

By introducing areas for emerging mining companies, alongside increasing investor attendance by 22% and mining company attendance by 47% year on year, then the team can definitively say that they achieved this goal.

Overcoming the external challenge Cape Town’s water crisis the team delivered an event that changed industry perceptions for the better, with NPS scores increasing from -25 to +29 in the year. ALM – Legal Week Connect

Legal Week Connect London was launched in reaction to the numerous calls from the legal industry to CONNECT those in charge of their legal business, from Managing and Senior Partners through to Project Managers, Heads of Innovation as well as functional Department Heads and General Counsel.

Our goal was to assist legal departments with developing into cross-functional, collaborative machines as the feedback from the market had been that they are tired of working in silos and not making the most of one another’s knowledge.
We had speakers from every walk of life, who were tasked with making each audience member step outside of the legal stratosphere and look at how they could implement connection from other industries to their own.

Our connection with our editorial teams and ambassador groups allowed for us to create and disseminate a welcome programme into the market. It was also recognised that the firms themselves need to go a long way in relation to their cross function connectivity and our programme began this process for many.

But when it started it nearly bankrupted the company, to say it has been a roller coaster is an understatement.

Best Overseas Conference of the Year (over 400 delegates)

November 26, 2019 by

Ascential – Bett MEA

The Bett Leadership Summit is part of the Bett MEA event and brings together policy-makers, education leaders and industry innovators to discuss the strategic issues and big picture thinking set to transform the education landscape.

At the 2017 event we increased the number of senior leaders at our Leadership Summit, attracting more than 650 delegates. Not only was this a 20% increase YOY, but our ability to attract such quality decision makers is in stark contrast to the nearest competitor who only achieves attendance of around 50 delegates. Other highlights were: achieving the highly prestigious royal patronage, and increasing exhibitors and sponsors by 57% including big names such as Apple who exhibited for the first time.

Clarion Events – Japan Gaming Congress

What makes this event unique is the team behind it. Our energy and passion for what we do is reflected in the high calibre event we were able to produce. The energy onsite was infectious. It was buzzing with conversations and excitement, something not many conferences are able to provide as they have a reputation to be boring, but not the Japan Gaming Congress.

EDANA – OUTLOOK™ 2017

OUTLOOK™ 2017 the Nonwovens Personal Care & Hygiene Products Conference, is a 3-day conference held in Cascais, Portugal 27 – 29 September 2017. To achieve a successful edition the team set the following 3 targets; match the conference content with the industry’s reality; grow attendance while keeping the promised quality of interaction and maximize satisfaction of participants.

Empowering the team with new communication techniques, to act consequently and consistently on previous feedback, and be willing to take risks by adopting new features, were the main drivers in boosting satisfaction and resulted in a record attendance and social media engagement of the nonwovens community.

Euromoney Trading – Investing in African Mining Indaba

Putting our audience and sector’s needs front and centre for 2018, the Mining Indaba team completely overhauled a tired looking brand to breathe new life into the event for its 24th edition.

The team’s aim was to take Mining Indaba back to a fully focused mining investment event, thus driving investment into the African continent.

This coupled with a 14% increase in overall attendance shows the extent of the 2018 edition’s success.

Festival of Media – Festival of Media LatAm 2017

In 2016, the nightmare situation for any event organiser became a reality when we had to cancel the Festival of Media LatAm at very short notice due to the path of Hurricane Mathew and the fact that the weather system was on course to hit Miami directly. In the interest of safety for everyone involved, we made the hard decision not to proceed with the event.

So in 2017, we knew we had a tough task ahead of us in winning back our attendees and sponsors. How do you bounce back from a natural disaster? This is the story of how we created something totally unique for our stakeholders and completely revolutionised the format of the event to make it more experiential, engaging, educational and inspirational to our delegates.

In just a few years, this event has grown from a small gathering of 140 people, to the largest trade finance conference anywhere in the world, through support from the industry’s leading institutions and market bodies. It is an annual highlight for the industry, with delegates flying into Singapore from all over the globe to attend.

Green Power – MIREC Week 2017

It is rare to be able to build a product slowly, organically matching the growth of a nascent industry and to maintain that position, as the industry grows up the steep part of the S curve of adoption. I believe we have not only fully maximised the commercial opportunity at every stage but have also provided a vital function to a growing market. I and many other “MIREC Fans” believe the event has helped accelerate the uptake of renewables in Mexico, spread best practice, bring in greater foreign direct investment and ultimately benefit the country through lower prices.

MIREC WEEK has become Green Power’s flagship event, generating a significant proportion of revenue for a small business like ours. We have done this with a smart, small team of bright, young things speaking a different language and based 9,000km away.

Terrapinn Holdings – World Vaccine Congress Washington 2018

The 2018 World Vaccine Congress Washington has consolidated its standing as the go to vaccines meeting globally, in content, speakers, attendees and networking opportunities.

The successful new format has allowed for whole-sector topics to be discussed, giving an opportunity for people to find out more in their specific area of research and their job-function. By running parallel niche conferences over the congress, it increased the relevance of the whole event for everyone who attended.

The impact of this has been to increase the quality of the speaker line-up and those who signed up to attend, as the content truly moved forward, covering the important blue-sky keynotes whilst also providing personalised content for every attendee.

We added to the format with new pre-congress workshops and individual conferences in Vaccine Safety, Vaccine Supply & Logistics, Cancer Immunotherapy, Immune Profiling, Influenza & Respiratory Vaccines, Emerging & Re-emerging Diseases, Clinical Trials, Vaccine Partnerships, Bioprocess & Manufacturing and Veterinary Vaccines.

Overall we brought an event that included over 1000 senior industry executives, 250 speakers, 300+ companies, 70, exhibitors, 10 dedicated conferences, 4 workshops and an Awards Dinner, enabling the event to post record attendee numbers, revenue and commercial partners.

Association of MBAs (AMBA) – AMBA Global Conference 2017

In 2017 The Association of MBAs (AMBA) celebrated its 50th Anniversary and wanted its flagship event to have the strongest programme in its history, attract more delegates than ever before and meet with its most challenging commercial targets for both delegate revenue and sponsorship.

The theme of our anniversary was ‘views from the top’, so we brought top-class speakers – including Peter Thomson, President, UN General Assembly, and Indra Nooyi, CEO, PepsiCo – to present to the delegation in the JW Marriott Marquis, Dubai, the tallest hotel on the planet.

We entertained delegates in venues including the worlds tallest building the Burj Khalifa and the opulent dining room in Burj Al Arab – not to mention tents in the Arabian Desert.

Campden Wealth – Leading Ladies of Switzerland

A tri-collaboration between Campden Research, Campden Conferences and Julius Baer.
A topical and enlightening gathering of a very select audience focused on women of wealth in Switzerland. Aimed to bring to life a quantitative study of UHNW family matriarchs/female next gen multi-generational family members as well as female UHNW entrepreneurs and private investors. This event was designed with the target market in mind (predominantly, but not exclusively female wealth holders) – we are inclusive and we very much do ‘family’ gatherings. It was intended to be educational, informative, instructive and inspiring – within a timeframe to suit the audience. Based on the principal of ‘like attracting like’ we ensured our speaker panel reflected the many roles women of wealth play: entrepreneur, business executive, family member, investor, philanthropist. It was a very positive gathering of our community members, some well-known to us, others re-engaging via the theme and agenda of the event. The event met all key objectives and was a memorable occasion with many there requesting it bit an annual fixture.

It transformed parent company C21Media’s business, showing how conferences can be integrated into publishing businesses with dramatic effect.

VET Festival offers delegates the chance to celebrate, learn and have fun in a fresh, outdoor environment – think music festival with CPD lecture tents and that was VET Festival’s vision.

Since its launch in 2015, the two day event has grown in size, stature and excitement. VET Festival 2017 attracted a 102% increase in delegate revenues along with 20% in stand and sponsorship revenues, including a headline partner who actively worked with us to both market the event – 98% of delegates would attend VET Festival 2018 and 100% of delegates would recommend VET Festival to a colleague.

Originally devised as a means of educating families and individuals of wealth as to the “next steps” after realising a liquidity event, over the last 19 years the conference has developed to address the most pressing and challenging issues faced by the family office and UHNW community today.

In keeping with the very essence of the conference – being a highly private, closed-door gathering of global wealth holders – the event has been shaped by the attendees and participants. In 2017 it was expanded from a 2 day conference to 4 days of activity featuring a highly tailored conference programme delivering innovative interactive session formats placing the audience at the very heart of the discussion shaping their own learnings and networking it provided.

The 2017 conference achieved a record increase in delegate revenue from 2016, as well as increased sponsorship and the best feedback scores ever achieved on this event and was the perfect way to set-up our the 20th anniversary year in 2018.

The result was was one of our most successful to-date. Against a target of 800 delegates for 2018 the HRD Summit delivered 963 delegates, and 1351 total attendees. We also overachieved on our financial targets, ending at 15.2% over budget with a dramatic 51.1% increase in revenue YOY.

Hampton Medical – Intensive Care Society

Hampton Medical has worked in partnership with the Intensive Care Society since 2016 to modernise, innovate and drive forward the Society’s State of the Art (SOA) conference, delivering the UK’s foremost critical care meeting for emerging technologies and essential clinical updates.

Held at the ACC in Liverpool, SOA 2017 represented first time the event had been held outside of London and was the most successful event in the Society’s history, with record delegate numbers, representing 25 countries.
Consulting with industry partners was central to their engagement with the event, generating increased revenue to invest into the delegate experience.

Putting in place an effective marketing campaign was also crucial to driving awareness and delegate numbers. As well as a targeted email campaign and social media strategy, poster notifications were placed throughout intensive care units to raise awareness amongst the critical care community.

The enhanced delegate experience, rich scientific programme, innovations and technologies created an engaging and seamless delegate experience, resulting in overwhelmingly positive feedback. The exhibition target was almost doubled and over 50% of exhibitors re-booked for SOA2018 during the event.

Most importantly, the conference generated a surplus beyond expectations for the Society to invest in its education and charitable work.

Marketforce – Insurance Innovators: Future of General Insurance 2017

The Future of General Insurance conference had been running on an annual basis for 17 years. It was a successful event but hadn’t grown for a number of years and performed inconsistently both in sponsorship and delegate numbers. We undertook a bold relaunch, with plenty of risks, and set ourselves some very ambitious targets to refresh and renew the event.

We created a new brand for our insurance portfolio that built on our legacy but focused on the exciting new world of technology threatening to disrupt the industry. The new brand, ‘Insurance Innovators,’ was born. This supported a new website, dynamic event format, modern marketing campaign and more innovative partnering opportunities.

Our long-term aim is to make this the largest and best insurance event in Europe. It was crucial to make substantial progress in the relaunch year and start to transition the event from UK centric to European wide.
